XWiki is part of the latest Gartner's Hype Cycle for Open Source Software (in the « Open Source Social Software » section), published on 10 August 2010.

The Gartner's Hype Cyle for Open Source Software is an annual report allowing to measure the maturity and market saturation of open-source solutions (classified according different categories like security tools, elearning applications, e-commerce software...) across the IT industry.

XWiki is mentionned in the « Social Software » category as a mature open source content management product, portal, community support platform and Web application framework, like his proprietary equivalents. But moreover, it is flexible and propose low acquisition costs; a way for breaking the barriers.
