User

The XWiki User Training teaches you the basics of using a wiki. It includes an introduction to:

  • Ways to navigate in your XWiki instance (space, sub-space, page, etc.)
  • The way XWiki is structured;
  • Collaborative wiki page creation and editing (WYSIWYG editor, macros);
  • Management of your page history and versioning
  • Creating links between pages
  • Importing Office documents (Microsoft Word -.doc, .docx-, Open/Libre Office -.odt-, etc.)
  • In-page collaboration (comments, annotations, etc.) ;
  • Using a simple application: blog;
  • User profile customization;
  • Keeping track of the activity (favorites, activity stream);
  • Etc.

The sessions will conclude with a do-it-yourself step to make sure the concepts have been fully understood.

Administrator

To get the most of the Admin Training, we strongly recommend for the participants to have already attended the User Training. 

These training sessions teach you everything you need to know in order to manage your wiki on a daily basis:

  • Setting up the default language (English, French, German, Multilingual);
  • Managing users & groups;
  • Right management;
  • Editing the Look & Feel (logo, colors, font, etc.) 
  • Customizing the layout (panels on the left, panels on the right, no panel, adding or removing a panel etc.)
  • Setup and update Open Source applications (Forum, Calendar, FAQ, File Manager etc.) ;
  • Creation of new wikis;
  • Etc.

After a theoretical training phase, a do-it-yourself phase will be conducted to make sure the concepts have been acquired.

Developer

To get the most of the Development Training, we strongly recommend for the participants to have already attended the User and the Admin Training. 

During these training sessions we will put emphasis on the process of build XWiki applications:

  • Introduction to the XWiki architecture and the related components (Tomcat, Java, data models, etc.) ;
  • Introduction to the XWiki API;
  • Velocity & Groovy scripting;
  • Introduction to the REST API;
  • Guide on creating a XWiki skin;
  • Tutorial on creating a XWiki plugin
  • Etc.

The sessions will conclude with a do-it-yourself step to make sure the concepts have been fully understood. 

Workshop

The XWiki workshop is an intense 2-days session that focuses on a topic chosen by you. During these days we will cover that topic in depth so you can have extensive knowledge in that area.

It is organized as follows:

  • An XWiki consultant schedules a phone call with you to identify the issues that you're facing;
  • The consultant spends one day preparing his intervention, asking additional questions through email, if needed;
  • The consultant spends one day on-site to deliver his presentation and answer questions.
