During the 2nd-7th of April 2012, the XWiki Iasi team will be actively participating to the national career event JobShop, organised by BEST Iași. You'll be able to find our stand inside the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environment Protection and also to meet our team in several contexts and activities:

1. Successful Careers: Marius Florea (R&D Engineer) will openly speak about his professional path, along with other IT professionals. He will also present a range of opportunities that graduates can have on the labour market, based on XWiki employees example, and will answer to different questions regarding the steps to follow towards a successful career in the IT field. 

2. Presentation booth: The XWiki Iași team will directly interact with students and graduates of technical faculties, while presenting several aspects of the XWiki life. They will also speak about the professional development opportunities within our company. Right now XWiki is looking to expand her team by a few new hires: 2 Front-End Web Developers and 1 QA Engineer, bring your CV and come meet us!

3. BACo (BEST Academics & Companies): Eduard Moraru (R&D Engineer) and Ecaterina Moraru (Usability & Design Engineer) will meet both with students and representatives from "Gheorghe Asachi" University, in order to debate on methods of improving the educational process. This year the theme of the debate is "How can companies get involved in students' development".

4. Technical Training - “Development process, the XWiki way”: The XWiki Team members will present the major development tools that are needed to create, maintain, test and develop our Java based project XWiki Enterprise:

• Maven , our primary build tool, 
• Git , our source code management tool, 
• JIRA , our issue management and bug tracking system, 
• Jenkins , for the continuous integration system,
• Eclipse , as our integrated development environment.

You will have an excellent opportunity to learn how all these tools are combined and integrated in our development history.

This summer, Google is organizing the 8th edition of the Google Summer of Code program:

"Google Summer of Code is a global program that offers post-secondary student developers ages 18 and older stipends to write code for various open source software projects. We have worked with open source, free software, and technology-related groups to identify and fund projects over a three month period."

Having participated to GSoC since its first edition in 2005, XWiki has been accepted again as a mentoring organization for Google Summer of Code 2012.

This year we're proposing a lot of interesting projects, from Advanced Email Integration to a SOLR search component.

The student application period has just started and will last until April 6th, 19:00 UTC. 

Students interested in applying for a project with XWiki are invited to read the XWiki specific guidelines and apply on GSoC's official site.

Demain soir (20 mars), de 18h à 20h, notre directeur technique Vincent Massol et Denis Gervalle (Softec) feront une présentation de XWiki au YAJUG (Luxembourg Java User Group). A ne manquer sous aucun prétexte. :) Vous pouvez vous inscrire sur le site de l'événement.

Ludovic Dubost (XWiki SAS) et Miguel Membrado (Kimind) ont tous deux participé à un des "5 à 7" organisés par l'ADBS sur les solutions de gestion de l'information en SaaS et Cloud. Ils ont pu évoquer au cours de ces 2h les enjeux mais aussi les opportunités.

Juggler Fabian Seewald (Dundu) explains the concept of Enterprise 2.0 at the Enterprise 2.0 Summit, in Paris. Really cool! :)

The Enterprise 2.0 Summit, an event for which XWiki SAS is a sponsor, will take place in Paris on Tuesday and Wednesday. This is an excellent opportunity to hear prestigious experts and practitioners such as Luiz Suarez, Bertrand Duperrin, Dion Hinchcliffe and Richard Collin talk about Enterprise 2.0 and Social Business.

Ludovic Dubost will participate in two sessions:

• On February 7, from 14:40 to 15:30 he will be talking about Social Business Deployment with Frederic Charles (Lyonnaises des Eaux)
• On February 8, from 14:00 to 15:00 he'll try to propose a roadmap for the market in a plenary session entitled Future of Social Business Technology Roadmap with other players in the field (Seemy, blogSpirit, Yoolink …).
