XWiki is the eXtensible Wiki. XWiki offers numerous development and integration options, such as:
- Built-in business applications
- Macros that provide advanced features right into wiki pages
- Integration with third-party applications
- Connection to remote databases
The user directory, blogging features (full and micro blogging) and RSS reader are some of the essential business applications that are integrated into XWiki. Applications are a great way to add additional features on top of XWiki. Using the WYSIWYG editor you may add macros to pages. Macros are very powerful elements used to display external data inside pages, or to integrate special features easily.
