Context

Customers are increasingly numerous to make purchases online, but they also carry more and more often a little investigation before buying: looking for the best offer, looking for advices... The site covers these different needs by offering:

• The classification of an article among the sales of one of the listed stores (Amazon, Alapage, Pixmania, Fnac.com etc ...);
• Price comparison;
• And coming soon: tests and reviews.

The main constraints

XWiki team had to deal with several major constraints:

• Taking into account the different types of feeds offered by online stores: it was possible to automate the import;
• Site optimization for referencing issues.

Despite these constraints, the development and the launching of the site took only three months. This achievement is mainly due to to the flexibility provided by the capabilities of the scripting language "Groovy" (which allowed the quick management of the feeds and of the administration interfaces).

The solution

In collaboration with Supconso, XWiki made the following developments:

• Implementation of the proposed design;
• Creation of a system to integrate and reload the feeds of different formats;
• Interface creation for categorizing products;
• Integration and configuration of the search engine;
• Integration of the prices comparator;
• Referencing.
