Finding the right information at the right time can be a challenge for both your employees and your customers, especially when business-related information is scattered within your workforce's minds and computers across your organization. In addition knowledge exchange is time consuming, especially when conducted by email or phone.

Using XWiki Knowledge Bases you get a solution that allows you to access critical business information in a fast and efficient way. XWiki helps you increase productivity and reduce operational costs, while regular backups prevent information loss.

At the same time with XWiki your company's knowledge is organized and searchable. XWiki allows you to describe wiki pages by adding additional information (metadata) on top of the documents. Customer solution

The solution was developed for one of the top assistance providers in France, whose business is that of taking care of people's accident follow-up on behalf of insurance companies. Each insurer presents customers with a different set of contracts they need to sign. The company's challenge was to make all these contracts available at any time to its employees in order for them to provide customers with assistance. As the company has grown very successful it has had to handle more and more data, which has made finding information, keeping it up to date and using it more of a challenge. Consultants wanted this diverse data to be more organized and accessible so they could easily provide information to customers on the phone.

The company was storing all documents on a shared server, which made finding key information a pain. Based on XWiki Enterprise Manager, the solution proposed by XWiki has since become their "Documentation reference". Consultants have also been granted access to wiki pages straight from the existing business application. So whenever a client calls all a consultant has to do is click on a button in the business app and the browser opens the right wiki page with the relevant information.

Custom pages and user rightsStructured navigation
  • Contracts are now wiki pages
  • At the top of each page you have a table filled with structured data describing further the page
  • Pages are marked as valid or expired depending on whether contracts are still in force
  • Custom rights were defined for the different types of users
  • The ability for users to send emails to content authors was implemented

  • A custom navigation bar and dropdown menus were built
  • Filtering pages was made easy with the help of structured data and livetables
  • Search was customized to enable the exclusion of certain types of pages
  • Widgets were added to display the latest news and document updates
  • Panels where added to show the favorite pages and for quick access
